Boxing Day Project - A Box to say Thank You

A few years ago we've read this article from answersingenesis.org explaining the tradition and meaning of Boxing Day!

History of Boxing Day
The most likely story dates back hundreds of years to Britain. When on December 26 wealthy families would give their servants and tradespeople a gratuity of either money or a "Christmas box" full of food and gifts to thank them for their service and for working all day Christmas Day. Historically, Boxing Day was about recognizing those who serve and thanking them for their service. Holidays, such as Boxing Day, can be used for the glory of God. Even if Boxing Day isn’t a traditional holiday where you come from, perhaps consider incorporating the idea of thanking those who serve into your Christmastime celebrations. In doing so you will show others the love of Christ and open up doors to share the real meaning of the season—Jesus Christ, the greatest gift ever given to this world.

As church family we desire to share this beautiful biblical value of gratitude and to value those who work for the good of the community. In the days before Christmas we gave a simple box of chocolates to the volunteers of the Civil Protection, to the Firemen, to the Armed Forces, to the Emergency Deparment, to the Municipal Police, and to the mayor and vice-mayor of Budrio to thank them for their service throughout this difficult year for our community and during the Christmas holidays!

This year, becuse of COVID restrictions,we wern't able to go together to thank them, so we made a special Thank You Card with a QR Code linked to a video we made all together, grown ups and little ones!

What a beautiful way to translate the true meaning of Christmas into practice, with the gift that God made of his Son, who became man to give himself on the cross, giving us peace with God and the new life of His resurrection!

Prayer Meeting

Tomorrow evening we'll meet on Zoom for our montly prayer meeting as church family.

Stefano, will lead this time where we'll follow the priorities of Jesus' Beatitudes, we are learning from Matthew 5:1-16: "You are the salt of the earth... You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven." Matthew 5:13-16

We'll intercede for our church family and for the Gospel opportunities in our community as we enter the Christmas season, asking God to be His salt and Light in His world!
