Dinner & Prayer Home Family Groups

Tomorrow evening we'll have our Home Family Groups.

We'll dine together sharing the many good foods brought by everyone and we'll celebrate the Lord's Supper, with a family prayer time involving little ones and grown ups together.

We are glad for the Lord's provision of the meeting room at the social center Magnolia, a well known cultural meeting point right at the centre of Budrio.

At 10.30 we'll start our service with our series on the Pastoral Epistles. With Stefano we'll engage with 1 Timothy 4:11-5:2 - Command these things, Practice these things, Persist in these things! 

Paul, by telling Timothy to command these things, to practice these things, to persevere in these things, told the church then and now, to exhort one another in the gospel, as fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters in Christ, called to be an example to one another in Gospel speech, conduct, love, faith and purity, as together, equippend and led by the Spirit, we live and proclaim the Gospel salvation to all!
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good." 1 Corinthians 12:4-7

We'll have a children's talk where kids will engage with the same Bible passage.

 

As church family we're joining the collection promoted by the Italian Evangelical Alliance to help churches who are in the areas most affected.

App1Timothy - Mid-Week Bible Study

Tomorrow evening we'll have our App1Timothy (Applying the 1st Pastoral Letter of Paul to Timothy), our series of Mid-Week Bible Studies in which we'll keep interacting with what we're learning through the preaching in our Sunday services.  

We'll meet at the Bookshop-Café La Terza Stanza, in Budrio. Stefano will lead this time where we'll engage with 1 Timothy 3:14-4:10.

Just as the metaphor of nourishment, renders the idea of a continuous and constant process, so the metaphor of training, renders the idea of a challenging, persistent and regular activity! Paul thus calls all the members of the church family that Christ has redeemed, to be nourished by the gospel and to train in the gospel, both individually and reciprocally, to grow and develop in Christ, in the fulfilment of his mission! "...Speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love." Ephesians 4:15-16

All philosophies and religions in the world are based on 'do': do this, don't do that, to be good, to be worthy, to elevate yourself, to be a good citizen, or to be loved by God. The false gospel, in all its forms, religious or atheistic, tells us that we'll be saved if we try hard enough, that we'll go to heaven, if our good deeds outweigh our bad ones, that we are the redeemers of ourselves, creation and society! Whereas Biblical Christianity, is the only religion of 'done'! The Gospel tells us of God the Son who became man, who entered into our sinful world to redeem us from sin, and on the cross to fulfill the ultimate sacrifice for sin once and for all! "When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, "It is finished,"..."John 19:30

Discipleship groups

 

From the 8th to the 20th of May we'll have our discplipleship groups where we'll engage with the module: Gospel Relationships, concluding Unit 8. Singleness.

Relationships are fundamental to our identity, yet they are fraught with difficulty, fear, conflict and uncertainty. 

Coming to Christ puts us automatically into relationship with a community of his people. The gospel enables relationships to fulfil their purpose and design. The gospel transforms all our relationships. It resolves conflict, and gives new purpose to friendships, parenting and marriages. Together we'll discover how we can be freed to serve and love others with gospel intentionality.

In Christ, God equips His people to live His Gospel, uniting us in His household, which is the church of the living God, a pillar and buttress of the truth of the Gospel! "Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of godliness: He was manifested in the flesh, vindicated by the Spirit, seen by angels, proclaimed among the nations, believed on in the world, taken up in glory." 1Timothy 3:16

Theology for Breakfast! 
Following Luther's Table Talks example, we'll meet from 9 to 11am @ Central Café in Mezzolara where, while enjoying a breakfast with capuccino & croissants, we'll engage with God's Word discovering the beauty of theology in our everyday life!
