Sunday Service: Psalm 3 - Salvation belongs to the Lord

Tomorrow we'll have our morning service to worship God together and to proclaim His Word in Budrio.

We are glad for the Lord's provision of the meeting room at the social center Magnolia, a well known cultural meeting point right at the centre of Budrio.

At 10.15 we'll start our service continuing
our series on the Book of Psalms, engaging with Psalm 3 - Salvation belongs to the Lord.
We'll have a children's talk where kids will engage with the same Bible passage.

The reformer John Calvin, in the preface to his commentary on the Psalms, wrote: "I have been accustomed to call this book, I think not inappropriately, “An Anatomy of all the Parts of the Soul;” for there is not an emotion of which any one can be conscious that is not here represented as in a mirror.

Indeed the Psalms speak of hope and fear, of love and hate, of discouragement and thanksgiving, but above all, the Psalms speak to us of Christ (Luke 24:44) and lead us to Christ: the Servant-King, the Messiah-Redeemer! The Psalms are not poems to thrill us in private, but are the powerful praise that the united people of the church, with missional passion sing to their Lord. Each Psalm therefore asks us for an answer: will you remain in the audience of the fools who say that 'there is no God', or will you join the chorus of those justified by Jesus?

After the service we'll have a fellowship lunch, where we'll share the many good foods brought by everyone, followed by our church members' meeting.

Serving & Celebrating with our community at the Onion Fair

The last two weekends of September we'll be at the 64th Mezzolara di Budrio Onion Fair.

Italian history is full of harvest festivals, which have become the typical fairs of today' rural Italy, and which still provide a moment of community for families and friends at the end of summer. It is therefore common to see families with young kids enjoying good food and good music together, as well as parents and teenage children cooking and serving together at tables.

This reminds us of God's missional generosity, in the sowing and harvesting of both the produce of the earth and the Gospel of grace: "For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it." Isaiah 55:10-11

So on these two weekends, as a church family, we will be participating in various ways at Onion Fair, some serving at tables, others dining with family and friends at the food stand. This is one of the many ways we want to serve and celebrate with our community, make new friends and strengthen others, and live and share the joy of the Gospel!

Theology for Breakfast

Tomorrow we'll continue
our series of meetings:
Theology for Breakfast!
Following Luther's Table Talks example, we'll meet from 9 to 11am @ Central Café in Mezzolara where, while enjoying a breakfast with capuccino & croissants, we'll engage with God's Word discovering the beauty of theology in our everyday life!

Together we'll interact with the module: Union with Christ, concluding Unit 2. Location And Representation.

Union with Christ is the centre of the gospel. It’s been called the central doctrine of salvation. This course will teach you how the profound truth of a Christian's union and identity with Christ drives us to mission and joy in him.
All that Christ has achieved for his people is ours through our union with him. Heart change and mission flow out of who Jesus is, and how we are bound to him by faith. This course will teach you to understand and enjoy your relationship with Jesus in everyday life on mission.
