Sunday Service: Psalm 25 - The alphabet of Love!

Tomorrow we'll have our morning service to worship God together and to proclaim His Word in Budrio.

We are glad for the Lord's provision of the meeting room at the social center Magnolia, a well known cultural meeting point right at the centre of Budrio.

At 10.15 we'll start our service continuing our series on the Book of Psalms, engaging with Psalm 25 - The alphabet of Love!

We'll have a children's talk where kids will engage with the same Bible passage.

The reformer John Calvin, in the preface to his commentary on the Psalms, wrote: "I have been accustomed to call this book, I think not inappropriately, “An Anatomy of all the Parts of the Soul;” for there is not an emotion of which any one can be conscious that is not here represented as in a mirror."

Indeed the Psalms speak of hope and fear, of love and hate, of discouragement and thanksgiving, but above all, the Psalms speak to us of Christ (Luke 24:44) and lead us to Christ: the Servant-King, the Messiah-Redeemer! The Psalms are not poems to thrill us in private, but are the powerful praise that the united people of the church, with missional passion sing to their Lord. Each Psalm therefore asks us for an answer: will you remain in the audience of the fools who say that 'there is no God', or will you join the chorus of those justified by Jesus?

Good Friday - Heaven How I Got Here

Tomorrow we'll meet at 6.30 p.m. at the Magnolia Center, to celebrate Good Friday followed by a time of prayer and a family dinner.

Together we'll watch the film Heaven, How I Got Here: The Story of the Thief on the Cross starring Stephen Baldwin as the thief who died on the cross next to Jesus and is now in Heaven. The film is the acted story of the thief on the cross and his journey from darkness to light, telling us about the day Jesus became his saviour and how he learned what it means to fear God.

The story of the thief is unusual, but it teaches something that every person needs to know: that there is hope in Jesus, even for the person who is far from God. We have already heard many stories about how this film has had an impact on people.
