Sunday Service: Philippians 1:18b-26 – For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain!

 

Tomorrow we'll have our morning service to worship God together and to proclaim His Word at the social center Magnolia, a well known cultural meeting point right at the centre of Budrio.

At 10.15 we'll start our service continuing our series on the Paul's Letter to the Philippians, engaging with Philippians 1:18b-26 – For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain!

During the service we'll have our Children's Club, where kids will engage with a Talk on the same Bible passage, followed by a programme dedicated to different age groups.

Where are you going for true joy? Paul radiates a contagious joy here. Though he writes from a Roman prison, he can say, “I rejoice, so you rejoice” (paraphrasing 2:17–18). Paul reminds us that ultimate joy isn’t derived from comfortable circumstances, but from a living, vibrant communion with Christ. 

Paul says, “For me, living is Christ and dying is gain” (1:21). Paul loves the church at Philippi and refers to it as his “joy and crown” (4:1), but disunity exists in the body (4:2). He provides wonderful instruction for us as we seek to unite in the gospel.^[1]

Discipleship Groups

From the 09th to the 14th of February we'll have our 4 discipleship groups in Budrio and Molinella where we'll interact with the module: Union with Christ, engaging with Unit 7: How Union With Christ Impacts Everyday Life.

Union with Christ is the centre of the gospel. It’s been called the central doctrine of salvation. This course will teach you how the profound truth of a Christian's union and identity with Christ drives us to mission and joy in him. All that Christ has achieved for his people is ours through our union with him. Heart change and mission flow out of who Jesus is, and how we are bound to him by faith. This course will teach you to understand and enjoy your relationship with Jesus in everyday life on mission.

Theology for Breakfast

Tomorrow we'll continue our series of meetings of Theology for Breakfast!
Following Luther's Table Talks example, we'll meet from 9am to 11am at Central Café in Mezzolara where, while enjoying a breakfast with capuccino & croissants, we'll engage with God's Word discovering the beauty of theology in our everyday life!

Sunday Service: Visiting Preacher - Andrea Dorigo

 

Tomorrow we'll have our morning service to worship God together and to proclaim His Word at the social center Magnolia, a well known cultural meeting point right at the centre of Budrio.

 

At 10.15 we'll start our service and Andrea Dorigo, pastor of the The Barn Church in Opicina, which, alongside ourselves, is part of the Acts29 family of churches within the Italian rural context.

Andrea will preach on: "The gift you mustn't miss!" from Luke 2:21-35.

During the service we'll have our children's club, with a programme dedicated to different age groups.

We will celebrate the Lord's Supper, sharing bread and wine as a church family, proclaiming the death and resurrection of the Lord, until he comes!

After the service, we will have our Family bring & share Lunch, where we’ll share the many lovely dishes brought by everyone.

One to One discipleship Groups

From Monday the 26 th to Saturday the 31st of January, we'll have our One to One - Bible Study and Prayer meetings, where we'll meet in small groups in Budrio and Molinella, to read God's Word and to pray for one another, interceding missionally for our community and the advancement of God's Kingdom globally!

Dinner & Prayer - Home Family Groups

Once a month, we meet as a church family in 3 Home Family Groups, 2 in Budrio and 1 in Molinella.

We'll dine together sharing the many good foods brought by everyone and we'll celebrate the Lord's Supper, with a missional family prayer time involving little ones and grown ups together.

AppPsalms - Mid-Week Bible Study

Tomorrow evening we'll have our AppPsalms (Applying Psalms Book I), our series of Mid-Week Bible Studies in which we'll keep interacting with what we're learning through the preaching in our Sunday services.  
We'll meet at Caffé Filopanti, in Budrio, where we'll engage with Psalms 39 to 41.

Joint Service for the Week of Prayer 2026

For the Week of Prayer 2026, promoted by the European Evangelical Alliance, tomorrow we'll have a Joint Sunday Service in Bologna.

The following churches will gather together: New Life, Strong Tower, and Anchor of Hope from Bologna; Alive in Him from San Lazzaro di Savena; The Square from Budrio; and Nuova Speranza from Casalecchio di Reno.

Gioele Corradini, will preach from Psalm 78:1-7, exposing the theme set by the Italian Evangelical Alliance: "God’s Faithfulness to His People: Stop to start again!'

 

The Evangelical Alliance Week of Prayer is an old but golden tradition. Going back to the year after the launch of the Evangelical Alliance in 1846, it was one of the agreed initiatives that came out of that founding conference and has since been celebrated every year across Europe.

We are glad for the Lord's provision of the meeting room at the social center Magnolia, a well known cultural meeting point right at the centre of Budrio.

At 10.15 we'll start our service and Santei di Leonardo missionary from the New Hope Church in Casalecchio, will preach on: "Finding Our Hope in the Gospel!" from Colossians 1:21-23

During the service we'll have our children's clubs where kids will engage with the same Bible passage.
