We
are glad for the Lord's provision of the meeting room at the social center Magnolia, a well known cultural meeting point right at the centre of Budrio.
At 10.30 we'll start our service with our series on the Pastoral Epistles.
With Stefano we'll engage with 1Timothy 3:1-7 - God equips his church to live the Gospel!
"So I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, as well as a partaker in the glory that is going to be revealed: shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly; not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory." 1Peter 1:1-4
It is in the light of this context, that we understand the way God equips his church to grow in the Gospel, with leaders who desire, (who aspire as Paul tells Timothy), to a call, an office, a service, which is a praiseworthy, honourable, noble task! Jesus, the chief Shepherd who gave his life for his church, entrusts its government to elders, who shepherd (pastors who feed) and oversee (bishops who care), whose task is characterised by the responsible service and the self-giving love of Christ!
We'll have a children's talk where kids will engage with the same Bible passage.
