Cristhina and Anna, from the Christian Charity Transformed Lives in Bologna, will explain how Italy is one of the top destination countries for victims of sexual exploitation. It is also used as a transit country for victims coming from Eastern Europe and West Africa. Human trafficking is one of the most serious and brutal forms of human rights violations. Modern slavery that deprives people of their freedom and dignity!
Giorgia, co-owner of the bookshop La Terza Stanza in Budrio, will present a book on the topic of violence against women and Maura, from our church, will present John Piper's book "The Roots of Endurance - Invincible Perseverance in the Lives of John Newton, Charles Simeon, and William Wilberforce".Then at 8pm will watch the film Amazing Grace, chronicling the life and work of William Wilberforce, leader of the anti-slavery movement which led to the abolition of the slave trade in 1807, and eventually the abolition of slavery throughout the British Empire in 1833; and of his mentor John Newton, a former slave trader and author of the hymn 'Amazing Grace'.
