As
a church family, we want to be "in the middle of the square", at the
centre of our community life, to serve and welcome, to celebrate and
love, to live and share the Gospel (Acts 17:17), the good news of
salvation by grace in Jesus Christ, with everyone!
So tomorrow
evening we'll be with our community at the commemoration for the Bologna Massacre.
The clock at Bologna station, stopped at 10:25, is the symbol of shattered human time; at that 'hour', the story of 85 people came to a halt because of the radical evil present in a world fallen into sin.
A world into which Jesus entered to walk towards 'His hour', the 'hour of the Cross' (John 17:1). The Bologna massacre represents one of many moments in which human hatred has broken so many lives, but the Cross is the moment when Christ voluntarily gave His life to defeat evil and death once and for all.
The clock in Bologna tells us that human time is fragile and finite; the Resurrection of Christ tells us that in Him, time and life are redeemed for eternity!
