#exchangebudrio23 Camp - DAY2 - There's Nothing Wrong

2nd day at the 2023 English Sport Camp Exchange Budrio.

Sofiya from our church and Serena from Forte Torre church in Bologna, led the 2nd Talk from the Gospel of Matthew 7:21-28. The magical Casita of the Madrigal family has something wrong, tiles are falling off the roof and cracks are forming in the floors and walls, yet Abuela pretends everything is fine. When the storm comes, where did we build our house? On the sand or on the rock of Christ?

Today we had lots of fun playing at Basketball & Volleyball.

Every year we’ve been blessed by helpers coming from other churches. Join us in praying for the Gospel partnership amongst churches in Bologna area and especially for Forte Torre and La Rocca church, who greatly helped at our camp this year!

#exchangebudrio23 Camp - DAY1 - Paradise

1st day at the 2023 English Sport Camp Exchange Budrio.

We're really excited to have 40+ local kids from 11 to 16 years-old!

Nino, from our church, led the first Talk from the Gospel of Matthew 4:13-17, using it as an illustration the Disney movie Encanto, that we will be watching all week. Just as the candle enchanted by Grandpa Pedro's sacrifice brings light to the anguish of darkness in which Abuela Alma, the grandmother of the Madrigal family, lives - Jesus came to bring light to those who are far from God in the darkness of sin!

During the day we had fun playing football, American football and Silly Games.

Join us in praying for these kids, their families and the staff of the Budrio Sport Centre that hosts us, that we may begin and continue to have good relations with them all!

Sunday Service: Visiting Preacher - Philip Schwartz

Tomorrow we'll have our morning service to worship God together and to proclaim His Word in Budrio.

We are glad for the Lord's provision of the meeting room at the social center Magnolia, a well known cultural meeting point right at the centre of Budrio.

At 10.30 we'll start our service and Philip Schwartz, form the Bethel of Houston Church team who will help at our Exchange Camp, will preach on "Seeking our heavenly home" from Hebrews 11:13-16.

We are also people who are journeying towards a heavenly home, because this world cannot be our home. So in Jesus we seek our heavenly home: by faith, focusing on God’s reward, remembering God’s affection for us. Since Jesus has done this and prepared a home for us, let us follow these words from the writer of the book of Hebrews “Therefore let us go to him outside the camp and bear the reproach he endured. For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come.” Hebrews 13:13-14

During the service, we'll celebrate the Lord's Supper following the words of Hebrews 12:1-2.

After the service we'll have a fellowship lunch and a training time for the volunteers of our Exchange Camp.

In the evening we'll join a musical event to raise founds for a home for disable people affected by the flood, where the team will perform some Texan Line Dancing!

Sunday Service: Visiting Preacher - Manuel Morelli

Tomorrow we'll have our morning service to worship God together and to proclaim His Word in Budrio.

We are glad for the Lord's provision of the meeting room at the social center Magnolia, a well known cultural meeting point right at the centre of Budrio.

At 10.30 we'll start our service and Manuel Morelli, EMF missionary and pastor of the Christ Alone Church in Ravenna, will preach on "In suffering the Gospel advances" from Philippians 1:12-30.

The Holy Spirit, through Paul's letter to the Philippians, shows us a different perspective. He opens our spiritual eyes and teaches us that suffering is not synonymous with failure for our Christian life, but is an opportunity for victory and growth!
"Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing." James 1:2-4

We'll have a children's talk where kids will engage with the same Bible passage.

Sunday Service: Pastoral Epistles - 1Timothy 5:17-20

Tomorrow we'll have our morning service to worship God together and to proclaim His Word in Budrio.

We are glad for the Lord's provision of the meeting room at the social center Magnolia, a well known cultural meeting point right at the centre of Budrio.

At 10.30 we'll start our service with our series on the Pastoral Epistles. With Stefano we'll engage with 1 Timothy 5:3-16 - Pastoral Care: Honor the elders who govern well the church!
Paul, in showing us the beauty of Christ's church family, where we are called to care for one another in the gospel, including the men who care for us by leading us to grow and to live the gospel in Christ's world,  showed us the beauty of Christ:
"And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love. ." Ephesians 4:11-16

We'll have a children's talk where kids will engage with the same Bible passage.

Theology for Breakfast

Tomorrow we'll continue
our series of meetings:
Theology for Breakfast!
Following Luther's Table Talks example, we'll meet from 9 to 11am @ Central Café in Mezzolara where, while enjoying a breakfast with capuccino & croissants, we'll engage with God's Word discovering the beauty of theology in our everyday life!

Together we'll interact with the module: Gospel Relationships. Developing from the material of Unit 7, we'll engage with the theme of: Divorce.

Relationships are fundamental to our identity, yet they are fraught with difficulty, fear, conflict and uncertainty. Coming to Christ puts us automatically into relationship with a community of his people. The gospel enables relationships to fulfil their purpose and design. The gospel transforms all our relationships. It resolves conflict, and gives new purpose to friendships, parenting and marriages. Together we'll discover how we can be freed to serve and love others with gospel intentionality.

Preaching at New Life Downtown Church in Bologna

Tomorrow afternoon we'll be with our friends from New Life Downtown Church a new Acts 29 church plant in Bologna town center, led by Marco Martella.

Stefano will preach from Psalm 50 - What does it mean to glorify God?

To answer this question we'll engage with the Westminster Catechism question “What is the chief end man?”

Answer: “Man’s chief end is to glorify God and enjoy him forever.”

Sunday Service: Pastoral Epistles - 1Timothy 5:3-16

Tomorrow we'll have our morning service to worship God together and to proclaim His Word in Budrio.

We are glad for the Lord's provision of the meeting room at the social center Magnolia, a well known cultural meeting point right at the centre of Budrio.

At 10.30 we'll start our service with our series on the Pastoral Epistles. With Matteo we'll engage with 1 Timothy 5:3-16 - Pastoral Care: Honor widows!
Paul began and ended with the principle of Gospel honour which translates into Gospel dignity! Our worth in the gospel depends on our redemptive relationship in Christ, so in the church family everyone must have the opportunity to receive according to their needs and to give according to their ability, that is, both to be served and to serve, to be honoured in the Lord and to live out their dignity in the Lord!
"Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord." Romans 12:10-11

We'll have a children's talk where kids will engage with the same Bible passage.

Sunday Service: Pastoral Epistles - 1Timothy 4:11-5:2

Tomorrow we'll have our morning service to worship God together and to proclaim His Word in Budrio.

We are glad for the Lord's provision of the meeting room at the social center Magnolia, a well known cultural meeting point right at the centre of Budrio.

At 10.30 we'll start our service with our series on the Pastoral Epistles. With Stefano we'll engage with 1 Timothy 4:11-5:2 - Command these things, Practice these things, Persist in these things!
Paul, by telling Timothy to command these things, to practice these things, to persevere in these things, told the church then and now, to exhort one another in the gospel, as fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters in Christ, called to be an example to one another in Gospel speech, conduct, love, faith and purity, as together, equippend and led by the Spirit, we live and proclaim the Gospel salvation to all!
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good." 1 Corinthians 12:4-7

We'll have a children's talk where kids will engage with the same Bible passage.
