Sunday Family Service: Exodus: Liberating Love

Tomorrow we'll have our morning service to worship God together and to proclaim His Word in Budrio.

We are glad for the Lord's provision of the meeting room at the social center Magnolia, a well known cultural meeting point right at the centre of Budrio.

Every Sunday in July and August, we interacted with the Good Book Company book Liberating Love on Exodus, by Tim Chester.

Tomorrow we'll have a special Family Service where church members will share lessons and applications that the Lord brought to us through the Book of Exodus.

Exodus is the story of a bush on fire that never burns up, an unarmed shepherd facing the most powerful man on earth, a nation walking through a sea, storms, earthquakes and more. But it is supremely the story of the God who reveals himself, triumphs over his enemies, and rescues, guides, rules, forgives and lives with his people—and who in all this points forward to a still greater, more thrilling act of liberation.

Home Family Groups

Tomorrow evening we'll have only one joint Home Group in Budrio.

We'll have a family time where, while enjoying a good ice cream, we'll read God's Word, we'll pray for one another, and we'll listen at how Jesus works in our lives, following the steps of Psalm 145:4!

"I will extol you, my God and King, and bless your name forever and ever. Every day I will bless you and praise your name forever and ever. Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable. One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts. On the glorious splendor of your majesty, and on your wondrous works, I will meditate. " Psalm 145:1-5

Gospel Living - Summer in Budrio

As a church family, we want to be "in the middle of the square", at the centre of our community life (Acts 17:17), to serve and to welcome, to celebrate and to love, to live and to share with everyone the Gospel, the good news of salvation by grace in Jesus Christ!
So tomorrow evening we'll join our community at the Summer Cinema event, which is part of BudrioONFest 2024.

Gospel Living - Summer in Budrio - Happy Ferragosto

Tomorrow we'll have a traditional Ferragosto evening, which is an Italian Harvest Festival The Feriae Augusti (Augustus' Holidays), introduced by Emperor Augustus in 18 BC, were a public holiday to celebrate the harvest and the end of a period of intense agricultural work.
Nowadays is traditional to have a BBQ with family & friends. As church family we'll then celebrate Ferragosto as a Gospel opportunity, rejoicing in the ways God makes the Gospel seed to sprout in the hearts of men, knowing that in our Gospel labour, we can rest in the certainty of His Harvest!

"
For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it." Isaiah 55:10-11

Special Olympics 2024 - Movie Night

This week, during the 2024 Paris Olympics, as a church family we'll be watching the old but gold movie Chariots of Fire which tells the story of Eric Liddell and Harold Abrahams, two British sprinters, who participated in the 1924 Olympics. Liddell as Christian sees running as a way to give glory to God, but when he finds out that his 100-metre qualifying race will take place on a Sunday, the Lord's Day, he decides not to participate despite strong pressure from the British delegation. The situation is resolved by a teammate who gives up his place in the 400-metre qualification, allowing Liddell to compete and win the gold medal. After the Olympics, Liddell gave up success and fame to become a missionary in China where he died for the Lord in 1945 during World War II.

To explore more the testimony and message of Liddell's life, we suggest the article: "The Untold Story of Olympic Champion Eric Liddell" in The Gospel Coalition website, which is a review of Duncan Hamilton's book: "For the Glory: Eric Liddell's Journey from Olympic Champion to Modern Martyr"
