Exch@nge 2012 - reaching Italian kids

On Monday morning at 9.00 am we'll start our third experience with the Exch@nge 2012 summer camp.

This year we'll have again a team of American teens coming to help us from Wheaton College Church near Chicago.

The theme of this year will be:
Jesus offers you:
- Service …in a world that looks after number one
- Certainty …in a world where everything is relative
- Power …in a world where anything goes
- Perspective …in a world that lives for a moment
- Purpose …in a world that can’t be bothered
- Contentment …in a world that never has enough

Please do pray with us that through this camp Jesus' name will be made known!

Sunday Service & Exch@nge Planning meeting

Tomorrow Luciano, an elder in San Lazzaro church, will continue the series on
Hebrew 11, preaching on:
"Christ in the faith of Enoch"

"By faith Enoch was taken up so that he should not see death, and he was not found, because God had taken him. Now before he was taken he was commended as having pleased God. And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him."
Hebrews 11:5-6

We'll have with us a group of American teens from Chicago from Wheaton College Church that is going to help us at the YfC Summer Camp.

So after the fellowship lunch we'll have a planning meeting and a prayer time for the Exch@nge 2012 summer camp. Please do pray with us for the Italian kids, especially for the majority of them coming from a non-Christian background!

Interactive Bible-Study - Hebrews 11 - Christ in the faith of Abel

Tonight Stefano will lead an interactive Bible-Study on the series on Hebrew 11.

The goal is to see Hebrews 11 as a museum gallery full of portraits, but each one of them is pointing to the end of the gallery: that is Christ!

Tonight we'll answer in groups at these questions:
  1. Read Matthew 23:29-37. Why do you think Jesus says to the scribes and Pharisees that the blood of innocent Abel will come upon that generation? Do you think that Jesus could ever say something like that to us? Why?
  2. How can Abel's faith have an impact in our lives? And how it can have an impact in the life of our church?
  3. How would you explain to a non-Christian that the sprinkled blood of Jesus speaks a better word than the blood of Abel?
But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable angels in festal gathering, and to the assembly of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous made perfect, and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.
Hebrews 12:22-24 (ESV)

Series on Hebrews 11 - Christ in the faith of Abel

Tomorrow Stefano will start the series on Hebrew 11 that will continue till all September.
For the first time in the church of San Lazzaro all the preachers and the men we are introducing to preaching will all share the same theme Sunday after Sunday.

The goal is to see Hebrews 11 as a museum gallery full of portraits, but each one of them is pointing to the end of the gallery: that is Christ!

This Sunday Stefano will preach on Hebrews 11:1-4 - Christ in the faith of Abel!

"Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the people of old received their commendation. By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible. By faith Abel offered to God a more acceptable sacrifice than Cain, through which he was commended as righteous, God commending him by accepting his gifts. And through his faith, though he died, he still speaks."
Hebrews 11:1-4 (ESV)

"Whomsoever God accepts or respects, he testifieth him to be righteous; that is, to be justified, and freely accepted with him. This Abel was by faith antecedently unto his offering. He was not made righteous, he was not justified by his sacrifice; but therein he showed his faith by his works: and God by acceptance of his works of obedience justified him, as Abraham was justified by works; namely, declaratively; he declared him so to be." Sunday Service 17/06/2012 - Sasso Marconi

On Sunday Stefano and Jenny will be at
Chiesa Evangelica di Sasso Marconi,
a Brethren church in a village near Bologna.

Stefano will preach on Matthew 25:14-30:
"Are you faithful over the talents the Lord has given you?"

"For it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted to them his property. To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his ability. Then he went away. He who had received the five talents went at once and traded with them, and he made five talents more. So also he who had the two talents made two talents more. But he who had received the one talent went and dug in the ground and hid his master's money. Now after a long time the master of those servants came and settled accounts with them. And he who had received the five talents came forward, bringing five talents more, saying, 'Master, you delivered to me five talents; here I have made five talents more.' His master said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.' And he also who had the two talents came forward, saying, 'Master, you delivered to me two talents; here I have made two talents more.' His master said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.' He also who had received the one talent came forward, saying, 'Master, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you scattered no seed, so I was afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the ground. Here you have what is yours.' But his master answered him, 'You wicked and slothful servant! You knew that I reap where I have not sown and gather where I scattered no seed? Then you ought to have invested my money with the bankers, and at my coming I should have received what was my own with interest. So take the talent from him and give it to him who has the ten talents. For to everyone who has will more be given, and he will have an abundance. But from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away. And cast the worthless servant into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.'
Matthew 25:14-30 (ESV)

Impressions from the First National Conference "Christians for the Nation" in Rome.

Vice-President Italian Parliament

Coming home at the end of a long and exciting day at
the First National Conference "Christians for the Nation" in Rome in a Room of the Italian Parliament.

This conference has been described as a milestone of the Italian Christian commitment towards the Nation and the Parliament.

I found really exciting the presence of so many representative of a broad but sound evangelical churches and missionary agencies. I was challenged to work against the fragmentation of the Italian Evangelical environment.

Budrio - Food Collection for Cavezzo

Budrio Community
Be strong guys: keep on going!
Just back from helping with the last packing for the food distribution in Cavezzo, one of the nearby towns most affected by the earthquake.
11 lorries have been filled with goods for the earthquake people and most of them are already in Cavezzo!
Really encouraging to see such a strong sense of community: this early morning I was working next to kids from high-school, uni students, families, big strong guys and the former major of Budrio!
