Boxing Day Project - A Box to say Thank You

A few years ago we've read this article from answersingenesis.org explaining the tradition and meaning of Boxing Day!

History of Boxing Day
The most likely story dates back hundreds of years to Britain. When on December 26 wealthy families would give their servants and tradespeople a gratuity of either money or a "Christmas box" full of food and gifts to thank them for their service and for working all day Christmas Day. Historically, Boxing Day was about recognizing those who serve and thanking them for their service. Holidays, such as Boxing Day, can be used for the glory of God. Even if Boxing Day isn’t a traditional holiday where you come from, perhaps consider incorporating the idea of thanking those who serve into your Christmastime celebrations. In doing so you will show others the love of Christ and open up doors to share the real meaning of the season—Jesus Christ, the greatest gift ever given to this world.

As church family we desire to share this beautiful biblical value of gratitude and to value those who work for the good of the community. In the days before Christmas we gave a simple box of chocolates to the volunteers of the Civil Protection, to the Firemen, to the Armed Forces, to the Emergency Deparment, to the Municipal Police, and to the mayor and vice-mayor of Budrio to thank them for their service throughout this difficult year for our community and during the Christmas holidays!

This year, becuse of COVID restrictions,we wern't able to go together to thank them, so we made a special Thank You Card with a QR Code linked to a video we made all together, grown ups and little ones!

What a beautiful way to translate the true meaning of Christmas into practice, with the gift that God made of his Son, who became man to give himself on the cross, giving us peace with God and the new life of His resurrection!

EMF Conference 2020 - The Message & the medium!

Tomorrow afternoon we'll have the privilege to speak at the EMF Conference 2020.

Alongside John Stevens, FIEC National Director, Andrew RoycroftPastor of Millisle Baptist Church and Blogger, Vitalii Mariash, Academic Dean of Kyiv Theological Seminary, we'll engage with the theme: The Message and the medium.

We'll focus on our rural church-planting experience of Sharing the Gospel in an online world!

The dramatic worldwide move towards online media continues to develop, and the Covid-19 lock-down has made evangelical churches everywhere have to face the challenges as well as the opportunities of the online world. The implications for society in general, and for the church in particular, have been both wide-ranging and surprising.

  • So, how should evangelical churches approach this and how might this affect mission in Europe?
  • Does this present new opportunities to be embraced or a subtle distraction which risks diluting our focus?
  • Are there gifts and skills that should be developed in the churches?
  • And how might this affect the challenges of Bible training, especially in countries where there are few reformed seminaries and a shortage of sound Christian literature?
