Christmas Family Service: Luke 2:8-20

Tomorrow we'll have a Christmas Family Service to worship God together and to proclaim His Word in Budrio.

We are glad for the Lord's provision of the meeting room at the social center Magnolia, a well known cultural meeting point right at the centre of Budrio.

At 10.15 we'll start our service engaging with Luke 2:8-20 - The great Story!

Let us rediscover and relive the great Story of the Saviour-King, told through the centuries and seen through the eyes of humble shepherds!

"And the angel said to them, «Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.»." Luke 2:10-11

Boxing Day Project - A Box to say Thank You!

A few years ago we've read this article from answersingenesis.org explaining the tradition and meaning of Boxing Day!

History of Boxing Day
The most likely story dates back hundreds of years to Britain. When on December 26 wealthy families would give their servants and tradespeople a gratuity of either money or a "Christmas box" full of food and gifts to thank them for their service and for working all day Christmas Day. Historically, Boxing Day was about recognizing those who serve and thanking them for their service. Holidays, such as Boxing Day, can be used for the glory of God. Even if Boxing Day isn’t a traditional holiday where you come from, perhaps consider incorporating the idea of thanking those who serve into your Christmastime celebrations. In doing so you will show others the love of Christ and open up doors to share the real meaning of the season—Jesus Christ, the greatest gift ever given to this world.

As a church family, we desire to embrace the biblical value of gratitude and honouring those who work for the good of the community, which lies behind the British holiday of Boxing Day. So, from the 18th to the 26th of December, little ones and grown-ups together, we'll donate a box of chocolates and a Christmas card to the Municipal Administration, the Social Services, the Civil Defence, the Fire Brigade, the Police, the Carabinieri, the Armed Forces, the doctors, nurses and all the staff of Budrio Hospital, and to all those who, with commitment and passion, dedicate themselves to the good of our community, to share with them the joy of God's gift in Christ!

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16

What a beautiful way to translate the true meaning of Christmas into practice, with the gift that God made of his Son, who became man to give himself on the cross, giving us peace with God and the new life of His resurrection!

Sunday Service: Psalm 10 - When the Lord seems absent!

Tomorrow we'll have our morning service to worship God together and to proclaim His Word in Budrio.

We are glad for the Lord's provision of the meeting room at the social center Magnolia, a well known cultural meeting point right at the centre of Budrio.

At 10.15 we'll start our service continuing
our series on the Book of Psalms, engaging with Psalm 10 -
When the Lord seems absent!
We'll have a children's talk where kids will engage with the same Bible passage.

The reformer John Calvin, in the preface to his commentary on the Psalms, wrote: "I have been accustomed to call this book, I think not inappropriately, “An Anatomy of all the Parts of the Soul;” for there is not an emotion of which any one can be conscious that is not here represented as in a mirror.
Indeed the Psalms speak of hope and fear, of love and hate, of discouragement and thanksgiving, but above all, the Psalms speak to us of Christ (Luke 24:44) and lead us to Christ: the Servant-King, the Messiah-Redeemer! The Psalms are not poems to thrill us in private, but are the powerful praise that the united people of the church, with missional passion sing to their Lord. Each Psalm therefore asks us for an answer: will you remain in the audience of the fools who say that 'there is no God', or will you join the chorus of those justified by Jesus?
