Tomorrow we'll have a traditional Ferragosto evening, which is an Italian Harvest Festival The Feriae Augusti (Augustus' Holidays), introduced by Emperor Augustus in 18 BC, were a public holiday to celebrate the harvest and the end of a period of intense agricultural work.
Nowadays is traditional to have a BBQ with family & friends, as church family we'll celebrate Ferragosto as a Gospel opportunity, rejoicing in the way God makes the Gospel seed to sprout in the
hearts of men, knowing that in our Gospel labour, we can rest in the certainty of His Harvest!
"For as the
rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but
water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the
sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my
mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that
which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it." Isaiah 55:10-11
